Code Conference

BECOMING THE HOTTEST TICKET IN TECH

In 2003, when Wall Street Journal tech industry columnists Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher wanted to produce an annual conference featuring the biggest names in tech, they invited The Trillium Creations to lead the production.

That inaugural All Things Digital Conference kicked off a more than 20-year relationship that evolved seamlessly alongside its creators.

With The Trillium running point on all aspects of production, Walt and Kara didn’t have to think about whether they or the top-tier guests they were interviewing - like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs onstage together for the first time in years - looked or sounded good. This allowed them to focus entirely on the task at hand, which in turn created an environment ripe for viral moments. The unscripted, live interview-style format required The Trillium Team to act quickly on their feet throughout the two-and-a-half-day conference, and also resulted in some ground-breaking live event production techniques.

In 2013 Walt and Kara departed the Wall Street Journal and launched their own venture, Recode. The rebranded Code Conference needed to represent an evolution for these legendary journalists, while also promising the same quality interviews the Internet had been retweeting for years. More than 600 people attended the first Code Conference, turning the prestigious event into a status symbol for techies who want to be in the room where it all happens.

Over the course of the relationship with Walt, Kara and their team - which has also seen an ATD event in Hong Kong, Walt’s retirement, multiple spinoff events including Code Media, Code Commerce & Code Mobile, a move to Scottsdale, AZ, a pandemic break, and a roaring comeback at a venue as iconic as they are: the Beverly Hilton – The Trillium Creations has been proud to be a part of such an historical Conference.

After seven years in Carlsbad, CA, the overwhelming popularity of All Things Digital dictated the need to move to a larger venue. At the brand new Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, CA The Trillium team pushed the envelope again and led a complete redesign of the show from the bottom up. And from 2010 thru 2018, the Conference continued to grow in its new home.

“The Trillium has been a spectacular partner for us... I can recommend The Trillium highly and without any reservation.”
